Stunning Designs in Jewelry

Prong set diamond ring by Johnny Ninos

For many years I worked as a jewelry designer. I sold my line to small boutiques in the States and abroad and to a few bigger department stores. After a while I realized the industry wasn’t really for me, but I have never lost my love of great design in jewelry. These are just a few designers I think are doing really interesting things right now.

These rings from Johnny Ninos are absolute show stoppers. I love his use of natural elements and the yellow gold that seems to flow around the stones.

I have admired Jamie Joseph’s designs for many years. (Needless to say I also admire a photographer by the same name, but that’s for another post.)  She tends to use a lot of color in her designs and the deep blues and greens like lapis, turquioise and emerald are by far my favorite.  I also really like asymmetrical design and odd shapes because I think they tend to make pieces look more natural.

Todd Reed focuses a lot on mixed metals and hammered finishes which was also a key element in my line. I find his designs to be really architectural and love his ability to make stones seems randomly placed even while they are clearly just where they need to be.
